Prose Play is a literary word puzzle game. We built it to put great sentences in people's hands. We did not build it to collect your data.
What We Collect
When you play the free daily puzzle at proseplay.app, we do not require you to create an account, provide your name, or share your email address. No personal information is collected to play the free version of Prose Play.
Like virtually every web server on the internet, our hosting provider may log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. These logs are used solely for security and performance purposes and are not linked to any personal profile.
Subscriptions and Accounts
If and when Prose Play offers paid subscription tiers, account creation will require an email address and payment information. Payment is processed by a third-party payment processor and we do not store your credit card details. We will update this policy before any subscription tier goes live.
The App
The Prose Play iOS app requires no account and collects no personal information. Its puzzles, glossary and progress are held on your device.
The app does not request or collect device identifiers, advertising identifiers, location data, microphone or camera access, contacts, photos, or any other device-level data. It does not track you across other apps or websites. Your progress, streaks and completed puzzles stay on your device and are not transmitted to us; if you delete the app, that record is gone, and we never had a copy.
Apple provides us with aggregate, anonymous statistics about downloads and crashes, as it does for every app on the App Store. We cannot identify any individual player from them.
Cookies and Tracking
Prose Play does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts, and does not serve ads. If that ever changes, we will say so on this page before it does, and we will never sell your personal information to anyone — on that we do not intend to change our minds.
We may use a minimal, privacy-respecting analytics tool in the future to understand how the game is being played — aggregate statistics like which puzzles are solved most often. Any such tool will be disclosed here before it is enabled.
Children
Prose Play is designed for players of all ages, including classroom use. Because we do not collect personal information from users of any age, the game is compliant with COPPA (the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and FERPA requirements for educational use. Teachers and parents: the free game collects nothing.
Third Parties
We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with third parties for marketing or any other purpose. Our hosting provider and payment processor (when applicable) are the only third parties with access to any data, and only to the extent necessary to operate the service.
Your Rights
Because we collect no personal data from free users, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you create an account in the future, you will have the right to request deletion of that account and all associated data at any time by emailing us.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change what we collect, we will update this page and note the new effective date at the top. We will not retroactively change how we handle data already collected.
